I swallowed an entire mountain
yesterday at about quarter to 3—
the banshee acted like it was some
kind of breakthrough moment, but
we both know that it was more like
the kind of conversation I’d rather
be having with my therapist than
a close proximity work associate.
The truth of the matter is that I
could turn water into wine with
a snap of my fingers; could swim
to the greatest depths of the ocean
and wrestle fourteen great angler
fish, delivering her all of their heads
on a gilded platter and she’d still
go through my work with a fine
toothed comb, happy (read: furious) to
provide even more tracked changes
