Music Friyay: Mariee Sioux, Caribou, Pharoah Sanders

By Joanna C. Valente

Here’s some music, new and old, you should listen to and check out:

Mariee Sioux - Grief in Exile

Sioux’s latest album will take hold of you and not let you go. Her delicate vocals mixed with her powerful lyrics make her truly transcendent. My favorite: “Black Snakes.”

Caribou - Andorra

Caribou’s 2007 album is a dream pop, shoegaze wonder and piece of art. My favorite: “Irene.”

Pharoah Sanders - “Moon Child”
This song, off the 1989 album of the same name, is thoughtful and deliberate and groundingly ethereal.
